Book Recommendation: The Barbarian Way
I thoroughly enjoyed The Barbarian Way by Erwin Raphael McManus and recommend it.
He encourages us to pursue the passionate, follow-Christ-anywhere, dangerous life, rather than "safe," domesticated, civil Christian practice. He made me think pretty hard about why I prefer certain things (because they make me feel more comfortable, frankly, not because they're biblical or in line with the Gospel).
Here's one tidbit I just love: "...a group of buzzards waiting around together to feast on leftover carnage is called a committee. ... This explains so much of what's going on in churches -- a lot of committees waiting around to live off human carnage."
